A Bit of Fun - It's going to be a long one

When visiting Simone's blog the other day, she had a post re a Album of Me challenge she's participating in. One of the challenges was to put together a listing of what would be on your 'Ultimate Mix Tape'. Now, apart from stamping and my horse (and now my child), one of my other obsessions is music. A couple of Christmases ago, we decided to splurge and get the biggest & bestest IPOD we could to put all our, well OK, all my music on, LOL. I still haven't loaded everything yet - it doesn't take that long but it's time consuming, IYKWIM, it's on my ever growing list of things to do.
So to cut a long story shorter, I've decided to start of book of me too! My SU order will be going in tomorrow to get my Art Journal - hey, I may as well promote my business at the same time. My IPOD (yes, I've claimed it) has nearly 3,000 songs & counting, so I decided to limit my ultimate mix to 10% of that. I figured that my handwriting would look absolutely crap after writing all of them out, so I exported them out of ITunes and I'm going to print and cut them up, ransom note style for my page. I love reading about other people's favourite songs so I thought I'd share mine with you! Now I give you fair warning before going any further, Jarrod thinks I have questionable taste when it comes to music and also thinks that I have songs on the IPOD that no one else has ever heard of.

Here's my list, I tried to pick just my favourite song from each artist, but in some cases it was just too hard. I also grew up in the disco era, hence the disco songs and I also used to hit the clubs pretty hard in my early - mid 20's (I so miss this), which accounts for the dance floor anthems. I'd love to hear your comments - BE NICE. Oh, by the way, there's a story behind why I've selected each and every one of these songs too - I will elaborate if anyone's interested in any in particular

First Scrapbooking Class - Look at what I did!!!

Yesterday I attended my very first scrapbooking class, taught by my downline, Anna. Isn't it just gorgeous. Sorry that the photo is terrible - I am USELESS at taking photos of my projects, they seem to all end up wonky?!?!?!

I'll give you a quick rundown of the products I used - I say I because I was the only one to do the 'boy' page, everyone else did the 'girl' version, which is posted on her blog, Creative Delight.

The base is a Bazzil - not sure of the colour that I ran a white Versacolor pad over. The white layer is SU Whisper White that has been torn and the edges inked with Versacolor Green Tea. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Phoebe - Pier 39 with the edges inked with Versacolor Lapislazuli. The photo is matted on SU Whisper White and Bashful Blue. I distressed the edges of the BB mat with a bone folder and then inked them with the Green Tea ink. The chipboard 'flourish' was painted in Jo-Sonja White acrylic paint and when dry I ran over it with the Green Tea & Lapislauzli inks and attached it to the page with SU 2-way glue. The outside of the 'play' element was inked with Green Tea, the inside was covered with BG paper, the edges inked with Versacolor Atlantic and Making Memories rub ons were used to spell out the word play. The whole thing was then covered with Mod-Podge. I then tied on the ribbon & the rik-rak and attached it to the page using SU 2-way glue. The letters spelling Harrison's name are Thickers by American Crafts. These are SO cool. They are self adhesive, but if you just place them lightly on the page, you can move them around for placement before giving them a final push to stick them hard to the page!

I just LOVE this page - I really has me inspired to do some more scrapbooking & it's not like I don't have a truck load of photos to use, LOL. Anna is holding this class again next week, so if you'd like to attend, check out her blog and drop her a email to let her know you're interested!

I'm Sorry - I've Been A BAD Blogger!!!

I'm sorry, it's been AGES since I've updated, but the upside of that is, I actually have some thing to write about LOL.

Firstly, a big THANKS to Anna (my brand new downline) and Simone for their input on my scrapbooking page. I have finally finished it off - the reason it took so long is that I was trying to find some sheer black & white polka dot ribbon. I finally had a brainwave today as to where I might find some and, voila, sure enough Scrappy Hollow in Croydon had just what I was looking for. So here is the finished page.

I added an extra two matting layers, 1 white and 1 black to give me a bit of extra room to add the ribbon without it covering too much of Harrison's face. I then punched a 1-1/4 circle in Green Galore, matted that on a 1-3/8 circle of W/White and used my white Gel Pen to add the journalling. (btw is journalling spelt with 1 L or 2??). I then used my 1/16" punch to make holes to attach pewter jump rings and then theaded onto the ribbon and tied off. At the moment the 'charms' are swinging freely - I'm still undecided if I should stick them down or not? The photo is mounted on the page using DS foam tape. I'm happy with the way it looks now and I'm actually looking forward to do some more pages. (so save me a seat in your classes Anna)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: So Very (limited edition SAB set), Shape Ups
Cardstock: Green Galore (cut to 8 x 8"), Basic Black, Whisper White

Ink: Glorious Green Classic Ink, W/White Craft Ink
Accessories: White Gel Pen, White EP, 1/16" Hand Held Punch, 1-1/4 & 1-3/8 Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, SAMJ, DS Foam Tape, Sheer Black & White Polka Dot ribbon, jump rings

Help Needed

OK, so here is the page I was talking about - my 2nd EVER attempt at scrapbooking. It's an 8 x 8 page and I have no idea of where to go next. The background is stamped to co-ordinate with the cushion Harry is leaning on. I also matted the photo on black cardstock. The photo & the 'cute' sentiment are attached using removable adhesive, so they can be moved. The 'So Very' sentiment is stamped & embossed - so it's pretty much stuck there. I thought of adding handwritten journalling (sp) (in black) in the light green squares, in line with the cute sentiment, but other than that I'M STUCK. What do I do NOW???? Any creative advice would be greatly appreciated. Once again, this is another project that 'looked good' in my head but in reality - aargh!!!
Supplies Used (so far):
