Please Indulge Me

as I quitely (or not so) toot my own horn.

The card that I entered in the ColourQ 134 challenge was chosen as the Colour Queen.  I cannot tell you how excited I was when I saw the post this morning.  There was a tear or two!!  Check out the cool badge I now have in my sidebar.

Now I have the closing deadlines stored in this sieve like brain of mine, I will be trying to play along more often.  In fact, I've already worked out what I'm going to do for this week's colours.

Thanks for visiting *toot toot*

Colour Q 134 Challenge

Afternoon

For some time now I have wanted to play along with the Colour Q Challenges for quite some time but it has just never worked out.  After a bit of tidying in the studio last night, I decided to see when this week's challenge closed, and as it turned out, I still had time to play along.

This is the colour combo for this week

And this is what I came up with

I used my new Apothocary Art set and the coordinating Labels Collection framelit.  I used my blender pen to colour the flowers using Calyspo Coral and Pumpkin Pie inks, the main image and sentiment are stamped using Bravo Burgandy - I think this is the 2nd time I've used it in 6 years.  The sentiment is from a PTI Anniversary set - Round and Round.  The background has been stamped using PTI's Background Basics - Tin Types using Pool Party ink.

I know it's really simple but I really like  how it has turned out.  And now I have realised that if I can make it down to the studio on a Saturday night, I can play along with Colour Q more often - yay!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

JAI 115 - Sketch Challenge

This week we have a sketch challenge at Just Add Ink.  Check it out.

And this is what I came up with

Now I've flipped it and taken a bit of a liberty with the sketch but I really love how it's turned out.  I fell in love with this stamp set, which has a coordinating framelit die, during the Clean & Simple class I took with Online Card Classes.  I don't know what it is about it, because I've never felt the need for a bike set before, but it's just so super cute that I HAD to buy it.  Being a framelit die, I found it was easiest to stamp the image first then centre the die over the top. The hills are cut from Old Olive (back) and Lucky Limeade (front) using the In the Meadow die collection from PTI.  Again, as soon as I asw this die set I knew I had to get it because there is just no way that I could ever make hills like that.  It's a lesson I learnt early - know your limitations and buy something to overcome them, lol!  That's why I stamp - because I can't draw to save myself.  And of course, no bike would be complete with out some bling - Candy Cane stickles in this case.

That's it from me, thanks for visiting and be sure to check out the rest of the DT's interpretation of the sketch.  I look forward to seeing your take on it.

Cheers

JAI 114 - Just Add Jodene

This week the challenge at Just Add Ink was to Just Add Jodene - meaning CASE one of Jodene's gorgeous creations.  This week is my 'off' week but with today being a holiday for ANZAC Day, I was able to get down to the studio to whip this up

This is the card that I CASED.  I love the die that Jodene used on her card, it's actually on my wish list so I had to improvise.  I've used the Lace Ribbon Border punch to punch a few rows out and have adhered them to the card front using Mono Multi liquid glue - not my favourite method but my punch nearly had a heart attach when I last tried this with the all purpose adhesive sheets behind it.  The frame and sentiment are from PTI Mat Stack 2 set and die cut.

Well, that it from me - heading off to Roast Night at the outlaws since there is no Zumba tonight.  I'll be back on Friday with my DT submission.  Hope you can stop by then.

Thanks for visiting

JAI #113 - Just Add Inspiration

This week at Just Add Ink, our challenge is to create something using this very pretty photo that Jodene found

And this is what I came up with.

Now, I must admit, I made my card based on a memory of a conversation we DT girls had regarding the colours in this photo. For some reason, my memory thought the colours were more Peach/Apricot, but in hindsight (and when I looked at the picture), it's probably more of a coral. Oops.  I was going to redo it using Calypso Coral instead of the Peach Parfait that I used but I got sidetracked tonight playing some new Wii games I picked up today from Dick Smith's closing down sale - got to love a bargain!

Originally this was going to be a kind of 1 layer card - I had masked off where the sentiment is but when I removed the mask - copy paper that I had adhered with my beloved Dotto, the Dotto ripped the top of my cardstock, so I had to make a 'panel' for the sentiment.  I'm not really sorry about that because I changed my mind on where I wanted to place the sentiment anyway :)

Well, that's it from me, be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team have come up with - lots of beautiful projects for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend.  Hopefully the weather will actually be as nice as predicted.

Creative Chemistry 101 - The Aftermath

Whoo Hoo, I graduated.

I haven't quite finished yet, still a couple more techniques to go - I was going to do them tonight but the storm made it a bit too wet to trudge downstairs to the studio.  Besides, I had just cleaned up this mega mess, the floor is just as bad - just as well it didn't fit into the frame :)

Now I have to go and upload all of these into the class gallery before it closes on Monday.

Hope you're enjoying your Easter break.  Catch you later

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 9 - Perfect Splatter Distress Technique

How pretty does this look?  I wasn't sure about it when I finished it last week, but when I photographed it today, it thought it looked great.  I love the big spotches of gold through it  - it looks so luxe.
